What is Slice?
Slice is an app concept that allows users to create customizable payment cards that facilitate pooling money from multiple users for payment towards any charge. This simplifies the process of splitting, tracking, and paying group expenses, while eliminating concerns about being paid back. Using NFC, all payments can be made directly through the app.
Slice "slices" up a bill or payment, based on predefined percentages or fractions agreed by each member of a created group. A member can request to slice a bill, and the app will send each member a payment authorization request, which if approved by all members, will enable tap-to-pay within the app.
Security is highly prioritized within Slice, and along with authorization being required with every payment made, the app contains security features, like card limits, payment caps, and the ability to freeze cards.
All payment history is tracked within the app, and Slice allows a large amount of group customization, helping to make sure your group is being managed exactly how you want it.
Project Goals
Slice is designed to eliminate the need for apps like Splitwise by allowing users to pay their share of a group expense upfront. Instead of tracking what everyone owes and waiting to be paid back, Slice lets everyone contribute their portion at the same time. This creates a simpler, more transparent payment experience, eliminating the uncertainty and awkwardness of chasing people for money.
Work Summary
Designed a brand identity and UX/UI for Slice. Analyzed apps (Splitwise, banking apps, ext...) to identify functionality gaps & what they get right. Created logo & other assets in Illustrator, and designed the app concept in Figma.
